This is a full-time, 210-day contract with benefits for the Assistant Principal position at Harbour Pointe Middle School. Contracted start date is July 1, 2026.

JOB TITLE:
MIDDLE SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
JOB SUMMARY:
The middle school assistant principal assists in the management and leadership of the school program to enhance student academic achievement, the social and emotional development of all students, and provides for the physical safety and well-being of students and staff. The middle school assistant principal ensures the district's commitment to equity is integrated into all facets of collaboration with students and families, and in conjunction with all building decisions and operations.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Focus on leading all stakeholders in support of the district's commitment to equity and for students furthest from educational justice.
* Create a school culture that promotes the ongoing improvement of teaching and learning for students and staff.
* Manage school climate and facilities to promote student, staff, and school safety.
* Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of a data-driven school program for the purpose of enhancing student achievement for all.
* Assist instructional staff in the alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment with state and local district learning goals.
* Hire, supervise and evaluate staff to promote effective performance.
* Manage staff and fiscal resources to support student achievement and fulfill legal responsibilities.
* Cultivate family engagement and partner with school community to promote student learning.
* Interact professionally with students, staff, and community to create a welcoming environment for all.
* Interact professionally with students, staff, and community.
* Establish professional and ongoing contacts with students.
* Implement and comply with federal and state laws, District policies and the Code of Professional Conduct.
* Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract.
JOB REQUIREMENTS; MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:
* Knowledge of and ability to interpret rules and regulations governing the operation of a school
* Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and programs, and specifically culturally relevant curricula and instruction.
* Knowledge and skills in fiscal management and program compliance.
* Knowledge of professional development in support of culturally responsive and relevant teaching.
* Knowledge and skills in hiring, supervising, and evaluating staff.
* Skills in instructional leadership and program management.
* Skills in effectively addressing a wide range of academic and social needs including at-risk, cultural diversity, English language learners, and special education students.
* Skills in developing a diverse and inclusive environment, which includes a track record of success in attracting and retaining staff of color.
* Skills and ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with diverse people, including racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities.
* Ability to demonstrate cultural competencies, and respect and value for all cultural heritages.
* Ability to identify and address personal, cultural, and institutional bias.
