Job DescriptionThis is a 1.0 FTE Weight Room Supervisor position at Kamiak High School. The role starts September 1, 2026, and runs through the 2026-27 school year Monday–Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The supervisor manages the weight room, collaborates with the PE department on weight‑room participation points for students who attend after‑school conditioning, and must have PE/weight‑room experience.
Job SummaryThe Advisor or Supervisor promotes and implements the activity program, including recruitment, instruction, mentoring, supervision, and motivation of students.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions- Provide age‑ and skill‑appropriate training, instruction, and coaching to students for developing skills, attitudes, sportsmanship, teamwork, and self‑esteem.
- Teach rules and safety, and provide guidance, instruction, and experiences to enhance students’ personal, physical, social, and emotional development.
- Promote student participation in all sports and the value of being a multi‑sport athlete.
- Supervise student behavior, correct behavior, and maintain discipline consistent with WIAA regulations and district/building policies.
- Assist in scheduling sport‑related events, including coaching meetings, practices, and games, and handle logistics such as transportation and parent meetings.
- Ensure safety and well‑being of student athletes; provide first aid or refer to appropriate staff as needed.
- Direct and supervise assistants and volunteers.
- Maintain professional interactions with students, staff, parents, and the public.
- Process and manage supply orders, distribution, and inventory.
- Issue, maintain, and account for athletic equipment.
- Maintain records of student eligibility, equipment inventory, fiscal resources, and relevant sport records.
- Strictly follow fiscal procedures and conduct fundraising activities as needed.
- Implement and comply with WIAA regulations, district, and building policies.
- Maintain consistent attendance and adhere to specified work hours.
- Stay current on sport techniques, coaching certifications, and training requirements.
- Attend meetings, clinics, and workshops.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of the specific sport, rules, required skills, coaching techniques, game strategy, and student development.
- Ability to develop and instruct student athletes and apply effective game strategy.
- Ability to motivate students and impart sportsmanship, teamwork, and self‑esteem.
- Strong communication skills with diverse constituents.
- Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration among stakeholders.
- Discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
- Professional and positive relationships with others.
- Follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Organizational, time‑management, budgeting, and record‑keeping skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must be at least 21 years old per WIAA regulations.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Formal training in the specific sport per WIAA requirements, including current CPR/first aid/AED card.
- College degree preferred.
Experience
- Experience with student cultural and economic diversity (preferred).
- Three years of successful experience as a head or varsity coach at high school, college, professional level, or comparable experience (preferred).
