Fashion Designer Contemporary Indian Womenswear    Mumbai

About RA Studio
RA Studio is the design and production house of   veteran designer Ritu Agnihotri, an alumna of the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, Class of 1983.
We create contemporary Indian womenswear rooted in thoughtful design, natural fabrics, Indian textiles and craft — interpreted for an easy, modern wardrobe.
As RA Studio grows, we are looking for a talented Fashion Designer   to work closely with Ritu and our design and production team, with the opportunity to participate meaningfully in the evolving design language of the label.

The Role
This is first and foremost a   product design role   .
We are looking for someone with a strong design sensibility, an instinct for textiles and an understanding of how an idea moves from concept to a finished garment.
You will work across the complete development journey —   research → concept → textile → silhouette → sampling → fitting → refinement → finished collection.

What you will work on
Research and develop concepts, mood boards, colour stories, silhouettes and collection directions.
Create original garment designs, sketches, technical drawings and design specifications.
Explore fabrics, handlooms, prints, embroidery, surface techniques, trims and garment details.
Work closely with pattern masters, tailors, sampling teams and production partners to translate ideas into finished garments.
Participate actively in sampling and fittings, refining proportion, construction, comfort and fit.
Balance creativity with wearability, production feasibility and the commercial needs of a growing label.
Learn from customer and product feedback to continuously improve future collections.
Thoughtfully use   AI and emerging design tools   to accelerate research, visualisation, experimentation, iteration and garment development.

Craft-led. Technology-forward.
RA Studio is deeply rooted in   handcraft, textiles and human creativity   — but we also believe good designers should embrace new tools that help them do their work better.
We see   AI as an assistant to the designer, not a replacement for the designer.
You do not need to be an AI expert. What matters is curiosity, an understanding of how these tools can support the creative process, and a willingness to continuously learn and experiment with new technology.

What we're looking for
2–4 years of relevant professional experience   in womenswear, preferably with a premium, contemporary or designer-led fashion label.
Education in Fashion, Textile or Apparel Design from   NID, NIFT or another leading design institution   preferred.
A strong portfolio demonstrating original thinking, textile sensibility, silhouette development and finished garments.
Good understanding of fabrics, garment construction, fit, proportions and the sampling process.
Experience taking designs through development, sampling, fitting and finalisation.
Working knowledge of   Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or relevant design tools   .
An interest in Indian textiles, handlooms, natural fabrics, print, embroidery and craft traditions.
Openness to experimenting with   AI-assisted and emerging creative technologies   .
More than anything, we are looking for someone with   taste, curiosity and a point of view.

Why RA Studio?
At RA Studio, you won't be designing one small part of a collection several layers removed from the final product.
You will have the opportunity to:
Work closely with and learn directly from   Ritu Agnihotri   .
Participate in the development of complete collections.
See your ideas move from sketch to sample to production to store.
Work hands-on with Indian textiles, crafts and makers.
Have meaningful creative ownership as an independent fashion label grows.
Experiment with both   traditional craft and new technologies   to improve the way we design.
The role offers   competitive fixed compensation based on experience and portfolio   , along with   performance-linked bonuses tied to individual contribution and overall company performance.
