At The Hosteller, we are seeking an experienced and seasoned Legal & liaising assistant manager / lawyer with strong exposure to real estate, commercial contracts, litigation and consumer dispute management. This role reports into the Legal manager and will primarily involve (i) facilitating the development, negotiation and administration of lease deeds, operating agreements and commercial contracts; (ii) working closely with internal managerial teams to resolve operational legal issues in alignment with company policies and business objectives
Job responsibilities
Possess strong knowledge of statutory real estate compliance, commercial leasing, land laws across multiple states and hospitality-related operating licenses
Conduct comprehensive title due diligence, including review of land and revenue records, ownership documents and risk assessments; liaise with government and semi-government authorities as required
Draft, review, negotiate and advise on lease deeds, LOIs, vendor contracts, NDAs, service agreements and other commercial agreements
Draft legal notices, responses, rejoinders arising from hotel operations, including ensuring full legal and contractual compliance prior to property opening and act as a primary legal liaison
Possess strong litigation drafting skills and manage litigation and disputes, including consumer complaints, multi-state civil and criminal matters, and arbitration proceedings; coordinate with external counsels and maintain updated litigation databases and records
Ensure regulatory compliance and operational licensing, including FSSAI, labour law registrations, municipal and local authority approvals and maintain state-wise compliance and license databases
Handle trademark filings, oppositions, intellectual property protection and brand safeguarding initiatives
Ensure cross-functional legal compliance across departments and monitor adherence to applicable laws, internal policies and contractual obligations
Assist in coordinating response and settlement of legal disputes (e.g., debt recovery, breach of contract, court litigation, arbitration) including, when appropriate, the selection and supervision of external counsel
Qualifications
Bachelor/master of law (LLM) from a reputable university
3–5 years of experience as an in-house counsel or from a law firm with a focus on real estate laws and civil litigation, preferably with exposure to hospitality, licensing, liaising, etc.
Hospitality industry-related legal experience
Excellent communication, negotiation & analytical skills
Strong research and verbal and written communication skills
Fluent in English/Hindi (spoken and written)
Hardworking, strong legal drafting and negotiation skills, strong communication skills, well-organised, detail-oriented
