We are hiring an experienced Chartering Manager based in Mumbai or Kolkata.

He/She will be responsible for chartering function in select routes through optimized vessel utilization, negotiating profitable agreements and navigating market complexities, drive business development initiatives, build key industry relationships, and collaborate with high-performing team to ensure operational excellence and sustain growth in this dynamic and competitive market.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage end-to-end chartering activities for Supramax in Indian ocean region
- Drive growth in existing business and explore new trade opportunities, with a special focus on high-margin, untapped front-haul routes which hold strong potential
- Negotiate and finalize voyage and time charter agreements to maximize profitability while minimizing commercial risk
- Plan and execute cargo fixtures aligned with vessel positioning and market dynamics to ensure optimal asset utilization and earnings
- Identify and develop new customer segments, partnerships, and strategic alliances to enhance market presence and revenue
- Conduct accurate voyage estimations, evaluate trade routes, and determine commercially viable charter rates
- Monitor global freight trends, bunker costs, and port logistics to support competitive chartering decisions
- End to end chartering, negotiate charter agreements to maximize profitability and mitigate risks
- Efficient & productive planning of cargo fixtures with position merits- optimum engagement of cargo and vessel with profitability
- Project market capitalization and formulating growth for the company in terms of additional tonnages and revenue earnings
- Efficient voyage estimations, trade routes and charter rates finalization
- Effective negotiation with existing & prospective customers
- Cargo & vessel fixtures with profitability with overall accountability to the P&L account of the business vertical
- Be the focal window representation between shipping company, Charterers, traders and head owner
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers and industry stakeholders to increase market presence
- Implement effective risk management strategies to mitigate potential commercial and operational risks
- Stay updated with industry developments, geopolitical factors, regulatory changes affecting the focused market
- Administering fleet growth & business efficient deployment of risk management tools (bunker hedging, FFA hedging & physical hedging etc.)
- Ensure compliance to relevant laws, regulations and protocols
- Ensure adherence to the standard operating manual of the company at all times

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Maritime Studies, or a related discipline, with an MBA or Post Graduate Diploma in Shipping, Logistics, Marketing, or Foreign Trade preferred. Must have minimum 3–5 years of proven experience in dry bulk chartering, commercial operations, business development, or marketing.

A solid understanding of freight market dynamics, vessel operations, and industry regulations is essential, along with demonstrated expertise in negotiation, contract management, voyage estimations, and trade route analysis.

The role requires a strategic and analytical mindset, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build lasting relationships with customers, brokers, and key industry stakeholders while driving sustainable business growth.
