This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead ecological data analysis, reporting, and project delivery while collaborating closely with UK-based ecologists.
This position is ideal for someone with proven experience in ecological consultancy who is ready to take on more responsibility, mentor junior colleagues, and contribute to innovation and technical excellence within WSP’s global ecology business.
Responsibilities
- Lead habitat loss/gain calculations, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments, and ecological impact evaluations.
- Drive the use of digital tools (e.g., GIS, remote sensing, data visualization) to enhance ecological deliverables.
- Oversee the development of habitat mitigation and compensation plans under UK legislation.
- Prepare, review, and provide quality assurance for ecological reports such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA), BNG assessments, and Nature Conservation (NC) reports.
- Mentor junior team members and facilitate internal knowledge sharing across global ecology teams.
- Contribute to proposal writing, client engagement, and business development activities.
️ Key Competencies / Skills
Essential Skills
- Strong experience in ecological consultancy or conservation science, with deep familiarity with UK ecological standards and legislation.
- Advanced competence in ecological data handling, interpretation, and reporting.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage project deliverables.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and client-facing reporting.
- Proficiency in GIS and spatial analysis tools.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving mindset with a focus on innovation.
- Solid understanding of European Protected Species and licensing requirements.
- Experience with biodiversity metrics and habitat condition assessments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ecological data management tools.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Ecology, Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, or a related discipline.
- Having appropriate qualification from relevant UK institutions is an advantage.

- Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification (“BGV”) check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India.
