Distribution System Inspector

Job Summary

Under indirect supervision, oversee work performed by contractors on AEP electrical facilities.

• Assist with job planning, safety, crew critique, or other tasks as needed.
• Inspect and accept or reject contractor work for compliance to safety, design, construction standards, and construction quality.
• Assure contracted construction projects flow smoothly.
• Resolve customers’ concerns associated with work performed by contractors.
• Document construction events to protect AEP’s interest from future claims.
• Assure contractor invoices are accurate, complete, and reasonable.
• Provide feedback concerning contractor performance to Contract Administration for use in future contracting activities.
• Certify acceptability of contractors’ work for invoice approval and payment.
• Assume other duties as required.

• High School diploma or GED.

• Thorough knowledge of distribution work processes, procedures and safety standards.
• Minimum two years’ experience as a Distribution System Inspector Assoc. or equivalent related experience.

• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving safety record.
