Youth Pastor Position Summary
Commonway Church is seeking a full-time Youth Pastor to lead and grow a Christ-centered ministry for middle school and high school students. This person will disciple students, equip volunteers, partner with parents, and help create an outward-focused ministry that reaches students throughout our church and community. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students find hope in Jesus and follow Him in everyday life.
PrimaryResponsibilities Student Discipleship
- Lead students into a growing relationship with Jesus through biblical teaching, prayer, worship, community, and service.
- Create environments where students feel known, welcomed, challenged, and cared for.
- Teach Scripture in a way that is biblically faithful, engaging, practical, and centered on Jesus.
- Help students apply God’s Word to real-life questions, relationships, decisions, and challenges.
- Provide care, encouragement, and spiritual guidance to students and families.
- Build an outward-focused student ministry that reaches students beyond the walls of the church.
- Develop relational connections with local schools, coaches, teachers, counselors, and community organizations.
- Create opportunities for students to invite friends, serve others, and engage the needs of the community.
- Recruit, train, encourage, and lead a healthy team of adult youth ministry volunteers.
- Equip volunteers to disciple students relationally, not simply help run programs.
- Build a volunteer culture marked by consistency, humility, safety, and spiritual maturity.
- Partner with parents and guardians as they disciple their students.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with families about teaching, events, and ministry rhythms.
- Help bridge the gap between student ministry and the broader life of the church.
- Plan and lead weekly youth gatherings, events, service opportunities, and outreach efforts.
- Manage the youth ministry calendar and budget in alignment with the churchwide calendar.
- Participate as an engaged member of the Commonway staff team.
- Work collaboratively with other ministries to support the overall mission of the church.
- A committed and growing follower of Jesus.
- Biblically grounded and aligned with the mission and values of Commonway Church.
- Highly relational with students, parents, volunteers, and community leaders.
- Humble, teachable, emotionally mature, and collaborative.
- A clear and engaging communicator.
- Passionate about both discipling students in the church and reaching students in the community.
- A shepherd-hearted leader who genuinely loves students and families.
- A team builder who develops volunteers rather than carrying the ministry alone.
- A college degree and/or equal experience in student ministry.
- Leadership in serving others or within Christ-centered ministries.
- Ability to teach Scripture clearly and practically to teenagers.
- Experience in recruiting and developing volunteer teams.
Full‑Time, salaried, and pay is commensurate with education and experience.
