This dynamic, student-centered position provides personalized guidance, connects students to key campus resources, and serves as a flexible, cross-trained support across multiple departments including enrollment, advising, workforce, testing, and campus operations. Ideal candidates are strong communicators, relationship-builders, and problem-solvers who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about student success and community engagement.

If you enjoy wearing many hats and making a meaningful impact, this could be the perfect fit.

The Navigator provides essential support to students by assisting them in accessing the various services and resources available at the college. This role fosters meaningful relationships with students to ensure consistent and personalized communication, focusing on optimizing their overall success. In addition, the position requires cross-training to support various departments during times of high volume or staffing vacancies, ensuring continuous, comprehensive student support.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Act as an Ambassador for Ivy Tech in both the community and at various events.
  • Provide guidance to students in navigating campus resources, services, and departments to promote their academic and personal success.
  • Maintain regular communication with students through various channels (e.g., email, phone, in-person meetings), addressing their concerns and supporting their well-being.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student services to identify and address student needs, referring students to appropriate resources when necessary.
  • Assist students in overcoming barriers to their success by connecting them with relevant support services such as academic advising, financial aid, counseling, and career services.
  • Provide cross-departmental support during peak times, covering staffing gaps, and ensuring that students continue to receive high-quality assistance.
  • Serve as a cross-trained resource supporting student services, academic affairs, workforce initiatives, enrollment, testing, and campus operations as needed.
  • Assist with front-line student inquiries and provide accurate referrals across multiple functional areas.
  • Support campus events, orientations, recruitment activities, registration periods, and student engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain working knowledge of campus processes, policies, and services to provide comprehensive support to students and community members.
  • Collaborate closely with all campus departments to ensure continuity of services and coverage during peak periods, absences, and special projects.
  • Perform a variety of administrative and operational duties to support overall campus effectiveness.

The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with students and staff.
  • Experience working in an educational setting, preferably in student services or related fields.
  • Knowledge of college resources, student support systems, and general campus operations.
