About this OpportunityThe Center for Medical Education at Ball State welcomes applications for Clinical Educational Specialist. Candidates for searches must have authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Position FunctionWork with the Director, physicians, faculty, staff and other leaders across multiple health care institutions as the central operational and educational resource for clerkship administration, faculty support, and student success during the clinical phase of medical education.
Duties / Responsibilities- Coordinate all required clerkships and electives under the direction of the Center Director and statewide clerkship teams.
- Collaborate with statewide Clerkship Coordinators and statewide Clerkship Directors to ensure local clerkships provide required instruction and clinical experiences. Attend the annual statewide clerkship summit.
- Support the recruitment and onboarding of faculty and preceptors to lead clerkships. Support local clerkship directors with administrative and educational processes.
- Ensure institutional and clerkship learning objectives are attained by monitoring and implementing changes from the Curriculum Council Steering Committee.
- Structure and monitor clerkships in accordance with IUSM guidelines and accreditation standards such as preceptor mid‑rotation, preceptor final feedback, section exams, simulation center experiences, syllabus attestations, and any other tests to be conducted.
- Serve as the day‑to‑day clinical coordinator for clerkships offered under IUSM‑Muncie, ensuring seamless operations and communication between faculty, staff, and students.
- Serve as a liaison to outside clinical students assigned to the Muncie campus for required clerkships including onboarding, credentialing, housing, and clinical assignments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree.
- At least five years of experience in an academic, health care administration, or research setting.
- Excellent personal computer skills; excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Maintain confidentiality,
- Strong reasoning and problem‑solving skills, diplomacy, self‑directed, manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently with frequent interruptions.
- Master's degree.
- Additional years of related experience.
