- Why This Role Exists

This role exists due to continued workload and the need for in-house Swiss programming expertise. Camtool is expanding its Swiss lathe capabilities and is looking for a machinist who can  program, set up, and own the process  from print to finished part.

You’ll play a key role in producing precision Swiss-turned components while helping improve processes, reduce costs, and support long-term manufacturing growth.

- The Work You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

Program, set up, and run  Swiss CNC lathes  based on customer drawings

Develop setup sheets, tooling lists, and manage tool life

Generate and edit CNC programs to improve cycle time, chip control, and tool usage

Analyze job travelers to determine operation sequence, tooling, feeds, and speeds

Perform in-process and final inspection using precision measuring tools

Collaborate with customers and internal teams on  DFM improvements

Design or assist with jigs, fixtures, and work holding using 3D models

Troubleshoot machining and quality issues

Identify cost-reduction opportunities and implement process improvements

Accurately document work orders, inspection records, and maintenance logs

This is a  hands-on programming + setup role , not just pushing cycle start.

Micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other precision measuring equipment

- What We’re Looking For Required

3+ years of CNC programming experience

1+ year of CNC turning experience

Strong blueprint reading skills

Solid understanding of setups, tooling, and offsets

Ability to inspect parts and hold tight tolerances

Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred (Not Required)

Swiss CNC lathe experience (3+ years strongly preferred)

Experience with  Nomura Swiss machines

Process development or quoting experience

Fixture or work holding design experience
