Responsible for various types of weld preparation, and weld operations per customer drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction. Welding for repairs and restoration of various details as required.

Successful Welders have the skill and experience needed to produce quality welds from highly detailed blueprints and designs, including set-up of welding machines and materials, and fixturing based on the individual job specifications. Must have the ability to assess and measure quality, effectiveness, and accuracy of welds, with a creative approach to problem solving.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.
  • Proficient in various welding techniques (TIG and MIG).
  • Interprets mechanical drawings including weld requirement symbols.
  • Applies the appropriate wire and filler material applications for various steel alloys, aluminum and exotic materials.
  • Working knowledge of fixtures and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.).
  • Uses conventional and precision measuring instruments.
  • Monitors the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
  • Oxyacetylene welding, brazing, soldiering and cutting.
  • Operates stress and preheat ovens.
  • Perform any other assigned tasks to support and improve the overall operation.
Skills Required
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience TIG welding with a variety of metals.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and designs and use a variety of measurement tools and geometric tools.
  • Strong knowledge of raw materials, welding processes, cost management and quality controls.
  • Safety mindedness with strong situational awareness to prevent accidents, injuries, and mistakes.

    - Welders often stand, bend, kneel, or crouch for extended periods while handling heavy tools and materials.
  • Manual handling of materials
    - Lifting, positioning, and securing metal components, sometimes weighing 50+ lbs.
  • Repetitive motions
    - Frequent use of hands, wrists, and arms for cutting, grinding, and welding tasks.
  • Use of protective gear
    - Helmets, gloves, steel-toe boots, flame resistant clothing, respirators, and hearing protection are required daily.
  • Fine motor precision
    - Tasks require steady hands, good hand/eye coordination, and attention to detail.
  • Exposure to vibration
    - Tools such as grinders, chippers, and impact devices create sustained vibration.

  • High heat exposure
    - Welding arcs, torches, and nearby machinery generate significant radiant heat.
  • Bright light and sparks
    - Work involves exposure to intense UV/IR light, flying sparks, and hot metal fragments.

    - Industrial environments often exceed safe noise thresholds, requiring hearing protection.
  • Fumes and airborne particles
    - Welding fumes, smoke, and metal dust are common; ventilation systems or respirators are used.
  • Indoor and outdoor settings
    - Work may occur in fabrication shops, construction sites, confined spaces, or elevated platforms.
  • Variable temperatures
    - Outdoor welders may work in hot, cold, or humid conditions depending on the season.
  • Confined or awkward spaces
    - Some tasks require welding inside tanks, under structures, or at heights using ladders or scaffolding.

    - Proximity to heavy machinery, moving equipment, electrical currents, and flammable materials.
