This role exists due to continued workload and the need for in-house Swiss programming expertise. Camtool is expanding its Swiss lathe capabilities and is looking for a machinist who can program, set up, and own the process from print to finished part.

You’ll play a key role in producing precision Swiss-turned components while helping improve processes, reduce costs, and support long-term manufacturing growth.

In this role, you will:

• Program, set up, and run Swiss CNC lathes based on customer drawings
• Develop setup sheets, tooling lists, and manage tool life
• Generate and edit CNC programs to improve cycle time, chip control, and tool usage
• Analyze job travelers to determine operation sequence, tooling, feeds, and speeds
• Perform in-process and final inspection using precision measuring tools
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams on DFM improvements
• Design or assist with jigs, fixtures, and work holding using 3D models
• Troubleshoot machining and quality issues
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities and implement process improvements
• Accurately document work orders, inspection records, and maintenance logs

This is a hands-on programming + setup role
, not just pushing cycle start.

• Swiss CNC Lathes (Nomura preferred)

CAM Software:

• Part Maker

Inspection Tools:

• Micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other precision measuring equipment

• 3+ years of CNC programming experience
• 1+ year of CNC turning experience
• Strong blueprint reading skills
• Solid understanding of setups, tooling, and offsets
• Ability to inspect parts and hold tight tolerances
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

• Swiss CNC lathe experience (3+ years strongly preferred)
• Experience with Nomura Swiss machines
• Process development or quoting experience
• Fixture or work holding design experience

• Common production metals and raw materials used in Swiss machining (Exact materials vary by job)
