Scope Of Position
Plans, creates, documents, develops and implements procedures used to assemble, process and manufacture the company's products. Resolves manufacturing and production engineering problems and investigates new technologies and current processes to maintain a competitive advantage. Continuously works to improve overall processes including process development, scheduling, creating documentation, product assembly and production and processing problem solving. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Defines and supports the processes required to manufacture/assemble drive train components in a high-volume production facility utilizing state of the art assembly equipment and techniques.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent significant related experience.
- 3–5 years of experience working with manufacturing/assembly lines in high-volume automotive Tier 1 or Tier 2 operations.
- Knowledge of quality standards and certification processes (QS-9000, IATF 16949, ISO) required.
- Working knowledge of automation used in manufacturing, including robotics, conveyors, and pick-and-place devices.
- Experience supporting plant startups and major product launches is a plus.
- Proficiency in CNC programming, PLCs, and data collection systems.
- Strong analytical skills, including statistical process control, process capability assessment, and problem-solving techniques.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interface effectively with corporate staff, vendors, customers, and plant employees.
- Experience with process documentation, PFMEA, control plans, and engineering change processes.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, APQP, continuous improvement methods, and cost-saving initiatives is desirable.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Plan, create, document, develop, and implement procedures used to assemble, process, and manufacture drivetrain components and assemblies in a high-volume production facility.
- Resolve manufacturing and production engineering problems and investigate new technologies and processes to maintain a competitive advantage.
- Continuously improve overall manufacturing processes, including process development, scheduling, product assembly, documentation, and problem-solving.
- Analyze workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and equipment layout to maximize efficiency.
- Define and support processes required to manufacture and assemble drivetrain components using state-of-the-art assembly equipment and automation, including robotics, conveyors, and pick-and-place devices.
- Document processes, control plans, reaction plans, PFMEAs, and update documents as new models are introduced.
- Define gauging methods and measurement standards to support high-volume manufacturing.
- Support Purchasing, Supplier Quality, and Manufacturing during ongoing production of new products and critical periods.
- Confer with management, engineering, maintenance, and production staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and operational considerations.
- Develop specifications and procure machine tools, tooling, and gauges.
- Define investment plans for future product designs, estimate manpower requirements, and plan capacities for current and future products.
- Apply statistical methods to assess machinery and process capability, and implement improvements as needed.
- Utilize formal problem-solving techniques (8-Step, Design of Experiments, mistake-proofing) to initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
- Implement PLCs and data collection systems, and create/edit CNC programs as required.
- Assist plant layout planning, machinery placement, and material handling strategies.
