Production Mechanic (Locomotive Assembler)
Impact Workforce Solutions is hiring a Production Mechanic for 1st and 2nd shift at a leading railroad manufacturing and locomotive rebuild facility in Muncie, Indiana. In this hands-on mechanical assembly role, you will use electrical and mechanical skills to assemble, repair, and rebuild locomotive parts and components: including motors, wheel sets, and sub-assemblies. Work includes wiring, mechanical assembly, fabrication, and repair in accordance with AAR regulations, customer specifications, and company checklists.
On-the-job training is available, making this a great opportunity for entry-level mechanics and experienced tradespeople alike.

Pay & Shift Details:
- Starting pay: $19.00/hour
- 2nd shift differential: additional $2.00/hour
- Full-time, immediate openings on 1st and 2nd shift
- On-the-job training provided
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all duties in compliance with company safety policies
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, and rebuild locomotive motors and wheel sets
- Measure with micrometers and other precision tools
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts
- Consistently complete production documents legibly and without error
- Follow quality work instructions and contribute as a valued team member
- Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1–3 years of mechanical experience preferred (gasoline, diesel, small engine, or other vehicular mechanical experience a plus)
Qualifications &
Physical Requirements:
- Skilled use of hand and power tools, including pneumatic tools
- Comfortable working around overhead cranes and mobile equipment
- Ability to work on varied surfaces (concrete, gravel, dirt, railroad tracks)
- Ability to read precision instruments and gauges
- Constant standing and walking
- Frequent bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and overhead reaching
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
