About the Role

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations, reports to the Center Manager, and assists with donor eligibility, donor adverse events, laboratory test reviews, and donor notifications. The role follows industry regulations and provides EHS support under the guidance of Bio Life Medical Affairs.

• Determine donor eligibility, including managing informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in SOPs, coordinate appropriate medical emergencies, support the Development of Center Physician's standing orders, and facilitate donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings to donors or when medical or technical guidance is required regarding donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and seasonal influenza vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance for employee incidents.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator, when authorized by EHS, and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs.

• High school diploma or equivalent, or a graduate diploma from a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
• Licensed or certified in the state of assignment as EMT‑Paramedic.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• State‑required basic IV therapy certification.
• Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• Minimum two years’ experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Hourly wage range: $23.04 – $31.68.
