Telecomms Apprentice III

The Telecom Technician Apprentice III is an entry‑level apprenticeship that offers practical work experience in telecommunications. The role assists with installation, maintenance, repair, testing, and inspection of telecom equipment, systems, and infrastructure while learning telecom technologies, business processes, and emerging technologies. All work is performed under the supervision of a higher‑level technician and follows the company’s standard practices and safety regulations.

• Assist with entry‑level installation, acceptance testing, and documentation of telecom hardware and systems.
• Assist with basic troubleshooting, system testing, maintenance, and repair of electronic and optical equipment.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, drawings, and inventory.
• Inspect and maintain test equipment, tools, and safety gear.
• Read and update electronic and electrical prints, diagrams, and asset records.
• Operate tool and equipment required for job duties.
• Provide assistance to others as requested.
• Follow company safety rules, operating regulations, NERC‑CIP, environmental compliance, and practices.
• Respond to emergency callouts as required.
• Complete all assigned training and develop basic technical support skills in specified technologies (e.g., SCADA, fiber optics, P25, etc.).

• High school diploma or GED.
• Preferably an associate degree or equivalent 2‑year technical degree in electrical engineering technology, electronic technology, or related field; or relevant military training/experience.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and eagerness to learn entry‑level technical support skills.
• For internal candidates: minimum 1 year of satisfactory work experience equivalent to Apprentice III; successful completion of required training.

• Apprentice III – $30.95 per hour.
• Apprentice II – $34.86 per hour.
• Apprentice I – $38.06 per hour.
• Full compensation range for this grade: $32.03 – $39.39 per hour.
