Position Function

Under supervision, perform duties related to work in electrical maintenance, involving work up to 600 volts, complying with appropriate regulations and codes.

Duties & Responsibilities

Install, inspect, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, apparatus and control equipment as required.

Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble electrical conduit and raceway as required.

Install and connect wiring to lighting systems, power equipment, and related devices.

Install and wire control and distribution apparatus and balance the electrical loads as required.

Provide electrical power for events, structures, and both scheduled and unscheduled power interruptions as required.

Perform appropriate electrical tests and measurements and evaluate results as components and systems require for proper operation.

Move and erect ladders, scaffolds, and other lift equipment as required.

Clean and maintain all department equipment and tools, cleanup work sites, report all damaged and missing equipment or tools to the supervisor.

Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, diagrams, and sketches to ensure proper specifications are followed.

Acquire and maintain knowledge of various job‑related chemicals, environmental concerns, applicable codes and new technologies.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Successful completion of an apprenticeship program in Electricity as approved by the Bureau of Apprenticeship Training, or six (6) years of experience as an Electrician, or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable job knowledge can be acquired as determined by Ball State University.
Must be able to read and comprehend all specified policies and procedures for safety, hazardous materials information, University policies, procedures, and communications, and perform mathematical calculations.
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and be insurable under the university's auto fleet policy.
Must be able to perform all mental and physical requirements as outlined in each job duty.
You must be 18 years or older.

Preferred Qualifications

Vocational school training.

Shift Information

This is a second shift position: 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 midnight, Monday thru Friday.
