Engine Tester Opportunity
Seeking Engine Testers for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Muncie, IN.
Schedule:
2nd & 3rd Shift (Training completed on 1st shift) Pay Range: $22–$26/hour (based on experience and skill level)
The Engine Tester is responsible for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and evaluating mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems to ensure engines and equipment meet required performance, quality, and safety standards prior to customer delivery. This role performs diagnostic testing, analyzes results, identifies defects, and completes necessary repairs or adjustments.
Key Responsibilities- Perform mechanical, electrical, and electronic testing of engine systems and sub-assemblies.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations, inspections, measurements, and performance testing using various tools and test equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair defects identified during testing processes.
- Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
- Perform testing procedures according to written work instructions, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Set up testing equipment, instrumentation, and tools needed to evaluate system performance.
- Collect, calculate, document, and report test data and inspection results.
- Identify issues, analyze root causes, and communicate findings to quality and production teams.
- Utilize precision instruments, gauges, and diagnostic equipment.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment while following all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- 2+ years of mechanical, electrical, automotive, diesel, industrial, or technical testing experience preferred.
- Technical certification or degree in electrical, mechanical, automotive, or related field is a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot using schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to identify equipment deficiencies and accurately document findings.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment.
- Experience in engine testing, automotive testing, diesel engines, or heavy equipment.
- Experience working in high-voltage or industrial environments.
- Familiarity with electronic testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Computer skills including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb stairs, and work in confined spaces.
- Comfortable working around machinery, tools, noise, vibration, oils, lubricants, and industrial equipment.
- Work may take place indoors or outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
- Must follow strict safety procedures when working around heavy equipment and moving machinery.
