Summary

The Summer Camp Counselor is responsible for the immediate care and attention of all campers. Responsible for planning, implementing, and engaging in small group activities. Responsible for each child for the duration of the program, regardless of the location.

Qualifications – Education, Experience and Training

Must be 16 years of age. CPR, First Aid and AED Certification required, and if not certified, he/she must become certified.

Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times
  • Supervise and actively engage with campers during all scheduled activities; create weekly lesson plans and lead engaging group activities that support camper development.
  • Adhere to the policies of the District at all times.
  • Encourage positive camper interactions and participation.
  • Participate in water‑based activities at/in the pool and wear appropriate clothing/bathing suit when necessary.
  • Address discipline issues according to District standards.
  • Complete Accident/Incident reports as needed.
  • Communicate to the Assistant Director any supplies that are running low.
  • Complete opening and closing checklists and ensure the camp environment remains clean and organized.
  • Perform duties as assigned on the duty sheet.
  • Work cooperatively with other camp counselors and staff members.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, workshops and classes to improve job knowledge.
  • Perform other related duties assigned.
