We are recruiting on behalf of a leading organization in the mechanical and industrial engineering sector seeking a Field Service Engineer to support advanced industrial coating systems at customer facilities across North America.
This role is ideal for a technically strong, customer-facing engineer who enjoys hands‑on troubleshooting, travel, and working with complex industrial machinery in fast‑paced environments.
About the RoleThe Field Service Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating machines and related turnkey systems at customer sites.
This position requires extensive travel (70–80%), strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to independently coordinate service visits while maintaining excellent customer relationships.
When not traveling, you will provide remote technical support and documentation from a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities Installation, Maintenance & RepairsInstall PVD coating machines, cleaning systems, and related industrial equipment
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
Complete repairs and component replacements
Respond to emergency service requests
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards
Deliver hands‑on training for machine operation and maintenance
Educate customers on troubleshooting best practices
Prepare and maintain technical training documentation
Independently schedule and coordinate service visits
Communicate visit scope, timelines, and requirements to customers
Keep internal stakeholders informed of ongoing service activities
Provide troubleshooting support via phone, email, and remote tools
Guide customers through diagnostics and corrective actions
Maintain accurate documentation in ticketing systems
Follow all industry safety standards and company policies
Maintain safe work practices at customer facilities
Stay updated on PVD technology and industrial safety advancements
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Physics, or related technical field (or equivalent hands‑on experience)
Minimum 3+ years of experience servicing industrial machinery
Proven experience with PVD coating machines or similar industrial equipment (required)
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to travel 70–80% (primarily U.S., occasional international travel)
Experience using remote support tools and service ticketing systems
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple service projects
Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices
Legal authorization to work in the United States (visa sponsorship not available)
Self‑driven and comfortable working independently on customer sites
Organized and proactive in scheduling and communication
Technically confident in both mechanical and electrical systems
Comfortable training customers and representing the organization professionally
