Field Service Engineer – PVD Coating Machines | Mechanical & Electrical Expertise | Travel Required
Location: US-based (Frequent travel to customer sites across US, Canada, Mexico – 70–80%)
Salary: $70,000–$100,000 per year (experience-based, travel bonus possible)
Reports to: Service Manager
We are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to install, maintain, and repair PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating machines and associated equipment at customer sites. This hands‑on role involves preventive and emergency maintenance, customer training, and remote technical support. Ideal candidates have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
, a safety‑first mindset, and the ability to travel extensively across North America.
- Installation & Maintenance: Install PVD machines, cleaning systems, and peripheral equipment; perform preventive maintenance and repairs; troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
- Customer Training: Deliver hands‑on training on operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting; maintain training documentation.
- Service Coordination: Plan and manage service visits independently; communicate schedules and requirements to customers and internal teams.
- Remote Support: Provide troubleshooting via phone, email, or remote‑access tools; document all resolutions.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow safety regulations and industry standards at all times; maintain safe working environments on‑site.
- Reporting: Provide updates on service activities, customer feedback, and technical challenges to the Service Manager.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related technical field—or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience with PVD coating machines or similar industrial machinery
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Proficient in remote support tools and ticketing systems
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to travel 70–80% (domestic and international)
- Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices
- Proven experience installing, maintaining, and repairing PVD or industrial equipment
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical experience
- Work with cutting‑edge industrial technology
- Frequent travel across North America
