We are seeking an Application & Project Manager – PVD Coating Technology to serve as the primary application expert in the United States. This high-impact role combines application expertise, project ownership, and active contribution to sales growth.
About PLATITPLATIT is a global leader in advanced PVD coating solutions, delivering cutting-edge equipment and technologies for industries such as cutting tools, medical, aerospace, and high-performance components.
Key Responsibilities 1. End-to-End Project Ownership- Lead installation, commissioning, and ramp-up of PVD machines.
- Act as the primary technical interface between the customer, service team, and headquarters.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in line with performance targets.
- Analyze customer needs, recommend coating solutions, and validate performance.
- Support customers in achieving stable, high-performance production.
- Actively participate in customer visits, technical presentations, demonstrations, and coating trials.
- Work closely with Sales to win new projects and expand accounts.
- Provide feasibility analysis and application input for quotations.
- Deliver advanced training to customers, including operators, engineers, production teams, and internal service and sales teams.
- Develop application guidelines and best practices.
- Ensure customers reach autonomy in operation and process control.
- Support the service team in resolving complex issues related to coating processes and machine performance.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Provide remote and on-site expert support as needed.
- Maintain strong alignment with PLATIT’s R&D teams.
- Contribute to process improvements, new coating development, and technology transfer to the U.S. market.
- Provide structured feedback based on customer applications and field experience.
- Manage customer samples and application trials.
- Document results and prepare technical reports.
- Support benchmarking and validation of coating performance.
- Strong hands-on experience with PVD coating technology.
- Proven track record in:
- Application engineering and/or process development
- Industrial coating environments; cutting tools or components experience strongly preferred
- Deep knowledge of:
- PVD processes, including arc, sputtering, coatings, and related technologies
- Coating applications and materials
- Vacuum systems and industrial equipment
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Degree in one of the following fields:
- Physics
- Ability to work independently with a high level of accountability.
- Comfortable working in a global, cross-functional environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required; experience with ERP systems is preferred.
- Up to 25% travel
