Inspector​/Operator

Overview

Role Overview:
Unpack Your Potential. As an Inspector/Packer you will be responsible for inspecting and packing products to quality standards with the ability to train and advance into operating converting machines.

Shift: 12-hour day/night on a 2-2-3 rotation. Must be available on alternating weekends and some holidays.

• Start-up and shutdown equipment.
• Train new inspector operators in the area. Reinforce safety and environmental principles and ensure operators follow standard operating procedures.
• Operate computers to monitor and adjust process variables.
• Communicate via shift logs and provide proper relief to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the plant.
• Inspect raw materials and finished products.
• Conduct product inspection to visually inspect, monitor equipment and process conditions for compliance with SOPs.
• Report incidents or near misses affecting Safety, Health or Environment.
• Acquire knowledge of operations, equipment, instrumentation, and processes.
• Communicate within the group to keep Maintenance and Operators up to date with shift events and possible fixes.

• Manufacturing experience preferred, not required
• Technical knowledge of bag/pouch machines preferred, not required
• Knowledge of pouch/bag making and film handling fundamentals; troubleshooting preferred, not required
• Solid verbal and written communication skills in English or Spanish
• Mechanical aptitude
• Ability to read a ruler
• Basic computer skills
• Demonstrates organizational skills

• Physically able to lift 50 lbs
• Able to operate heavy machinery continuously
• Standing up to 12 hours per day on a rotating day or evening shift, up to 5 days per week
• Able to drive a forklift (stand-up and sit-down) for up to 12 hours per day
• Occasional twisting, turning, or bending to move items up to 50 lbs
• Alert state of mind to avoid safety hazards
