Extrusion Operator

Join Amcor Mundelein and work in a safe, clean, temperature controlled environment with a reliable 8 or 12 hour shift schedule – no rotating shifts.

• 2-2-3, 12 hour schedule on days (6:00 AM-6:00 PM) or nights (6:00 PM-6:00 AM). Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

As an extrusion operator you will set up, operate, and troubleshoot extrusion machines to produce high quality products for our customers.

• Observe all prescribed or standard safety rules and regulations.
• Work from assigned schedule and work orders and make decisions within recognized methods and procedures.
• Obtain work instructions and follow prescribed procedures to set or monitor extrusion controls such as pressure, speed, tension, and heat.
• Move, position nip rollers, rewind shafts, and razor cut devices as required for proper operation.
• Operate equipment or monitor continuing operations to maintain proper flow of raw and scrap film material, forming, cutting, and rewind operations.
• Remove completed work and perform simple tolerance or measurement checks.
• Occasionally perform or assist with complex setups or maintenance duties as instructed.
• Detect and report defective or contaminated material, unusual conditions, or faulty equipment to proper supervision.
• Set up extrusion lines, change dies, monitor all line controls and make proper adjustments, checking dimensions and quality of product.
• Examine products for fine defects and perform quality testing while maintaining production records.
• Assist in preventative maintenance of all machines and auxiliary equipment.
• Ensure work is completed to standard and keep area clean and equipment in good working order.

• Manufacturing experience or prior machine operating experience is required.
• Technical knowledge of extrusion preferred but not required.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read a ruler.
• Basic computer skills.
• Demonstrates organizational skills.

• Physically able to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Standing up to 12 hours per day on a rotating day or evening shift, up to 5 days per week.
• Occasional twisting, turning, or bending to move items up to 50 pounds.
• Alert state of mind to avoid safety hazards.
• Able to read/see up to 1/16 of an inch.
