I-9 Verification Specialist (Temporary Assignment)

Murfreesboro, TN (Hybrid)

Duration:
Approximately 90-120 Days

Soni's client is seeking an experienced I-9 Verification Specialist to support a company-wide compliance audit following a recent system transition. This individual will step into a highly detailed, fast-paced project focused on reviewing employee records, identifying missing or incomplete I-9 documentation, and tracking compliance status through extensive Excel reporting.

This is not an entry-level administrative role. The ideal candidate will have prior hands-on experience working with I-9 documentation, document audits, file cleanup projects, and high-volume record tracking. Success in this role requires someone who is exceptionally organized, highly detail-oriented, and extremely comfortable working in Excel for the majority of the day.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed audits of employee I-9 documentation and supporting records to identify missing, incomplete, or non-compliant files.
  • Utilize and maintain complex Excel trackers to monitor audit progress, document status, and outstanding compliance items.
  • Navigate internal systems, shared drives, and employee files to locate and verify required documentation.
  • Review and validate I-9 records for accuracy and completion while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Organize, track, and manage large volumes of employee documentation with a high degree of accuracy and follow-through.
  • Support compliance efforts related to Hire Right and E-Verify processes.
  • Partner with internal teams to communicate documentation gaps and ensure audit completion timelines are met.
Requirements
  • Prior hands-on experience processing, reviewing, or auditing I-9 documentation is required.
  • Strong experience with document audits, records management, file cleanup projects, or compliance-related administrative work.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to manage trackers, organize large datasets, and maintain accurate reporting.
  • Extremely organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage high volumes of sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and experience handling confidential employee records.
  • Experience with Hire Right and/or E-Verify is preferred but can be learned by someone with strong I-9 experience.
Compensation

$20 - $25/ Hour

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
