Job Description – Equipment Operator – Grading (260000G9)

Responsibilities- Promote safety by taking an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with OSHA and Vulcan standards.
- Operate heavy mobile equipment such as Bobcat, Dozer, Loader (stockpile), track drill, compaction roller, and off‑road dump broom as a function of the construction grading process. Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, or rocks or to distribute and level earth or terrain.
- Inspect equipment, performing thorough pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, completing daily mobile equipment reports and other relevant documentation accurately, and keeping records of material or equipment usage or problems encountered.
- Maintain equipment performance by checking and maintaining grade stakes, adjusting hand wheels and depression pedals to control attachments such as blades, buckets, scrapers, or swing booms. Check vehicle fluid levels and add correct fluids as necessary, and assist in performing other minor maintenance.
- Perform general physical activities, including using hand tools, cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials.
- Monitor processes, materials, or surroundings by locating underground services such as pipes or wires prior to beginning work and reporting any necessary maintenance or adjustments to ensure safety.

- Previous experience operating heavy construction equipment is preferred.
- Knowledge of general principles and practices of operating and servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred.
- Flexibility:
Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands, work outside in all types of weather conditions, and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
