Job Summary / Basic FunctionGreet and assist students, faculty and staff with mailing and receiving letters and packages through the US Postal Service. Maintain $2,500 of stamps and cash within a $5 tolerance. Accurately weigh and rate packages, calculating correct postage. Process money orders. Accept passport applications. Understand and explain mailing regulations and special services to customers. Assist students with PO boxes, load parcels into parcel lockers and help students to understand its use.
Required to serve as backup for the mail clerk for vehicle delivery of the Admin run. Perform other related tasks or special projects as assigned.
High School diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) required.
Required Related ExperienceTwo years of progressively responsible work experience demonstrating customer service, cash handling, recordkeeping, clerical, mail processing, shipping/receiving, or other related operational experience required.
Note:
An associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution may be considered in lieu of work experience. Experience gained through employment as a student worker, work‑study participant, or similar position in a university mail center, post office, shipping and receiving operation, or comparable environment will be considered as part‑time qualifying experience.
Valid driver's license required.
Desirable Related ExperienceExperience working in a mail center, postal unit, shipping and receiving operation, or customer service environment. Experience handling cash transactions, balancing funds, or operating point‑of‑sale systems. Experience providing customer service and working independently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to deliver mail to several department buildings using a golf cart, while using a hand truck and scanner for deliveries of parcels.
Experience in a higher education environment.
