The EC I position is designed as the entry level position for the MT One Stop and is phase 1 of a 3‑tier progression plan. The incumbent is assigned to the front desk of the MT One Stop to serve as the primary point of contact for students seeking assistance in initial enrollment, ongoing retention and general assistance with transactions related to any of the enrollment services areas.
Essential tasks include answering general questions and problem solving across all enrollment management areas that include bursar, financial aid, academic processes & residency, scheduling, and records. The incumbent must understand the interrelationships among these areas, be able to assess the student’s initial inquiry, discern co‑related issues and resolve them, or seek advice/transfer the student to an Enrollment Coordinator II for assistance and resolution.
The incumbent will learn and maintain a general understanding of MTSU, Board of Trustees, Federal guidelines, academic policies and procedures, financial aid processing, and scheduling and is expected to perform other related tasks or special projects as assigned.
Enrollment Coordinator II/III
The Enrollment Coordinator II/III combines elements of multiple positions across Enrollment Management that include admissions, financial aid, scheduling, records, and bursar’s office, coordinating knowledge and abilities to function in the MT One Stop. Engage in early interactions and structured yield activities designed to increase the probability of admitted students becoming enrolled and retained and continue to serve as a coordinator for all enrollment related activities throughout a student’s enrollment until graduation.
Be proficient in providing detailed advice and counsel to students about MTSU, T , and Federal guidelines, academic policies/procedures, financial aid processing, and scheduling, determining what options are best for a given student. Must be able to answer questions and offer effective problem resolution across all enrollment management areas understanding the interrelationships between and among these areas. Participate in recruitment activities such as True Blue Tours and Preview Days to provide information about enrollment and financial aid;
and work at the New to Blue registration check‑in table to assist students in determining eligibility for registration waivers/immunization extensions, etc. Serve as a financial aid counselor to determine the need for financial aid intervention, advising students regarding the application process for various sources of financial aid assistance, outstanding requirements, the verification process, and potential eligibility. Provide information regarding financial aid consortium agreements, financial aid deferments, financial aid appeals, and other financial aid resources available and assist the student as needed.
Calculate bills for students during late registration periods and must have a continuous knowledge base of appropriate tuition and fee rates contingent on the student’s status at time of registration; process course registrations, additions, drops, and late registrations, informing students of the implications of these transactions and making residency adjustments/determinations. Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned. Occasional night and weekend work is required.
Education
- Enrollment Coordinator I:
Bachelor’s degree required. A high school diploma or HSE and four years of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree. - Enrollment Coordinator II/III:
Bachelor’s degree in social services field, student affairs, psychology, communications, education or related area. Master’s degree preferred.
