The Department of Media Arts at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#144020) in video and film production at the rank of lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment. The contract may be renewed annually based on available funding, demonstrated need, and satisfactory performance as assessed by annual evaluations. The start date for the appointment is January 1, 2027.

The successful candidate will teach a wide range of video and film production courses, including, but not limited to, preproduction, production, and postproduction, as well as aesthetics, history, and theory.

A master's degree in video and film production or a closely related field is required by the appointment date. A bachelor's degree with three (3) years of full-time or six (6) years of part-time verifiable professional experience will be considered in lieu of a master's degree. In lieu of a master's or bachelor's degree, ten (10) years of full-time or twenty (20) years of part-time verifiable professional experience will be considered.

Professional experience must be in cinematography, filmmaking, TV/film production, directing, editing, technical direction, or production executive roles.

Applicants who include evidence in their application materials of instructional experience, such as conducting professional seminars, chairing presentations, or offering tutorials in areas relevant to the courses they will teach, will receive special consideration. In addition, applicants who include relevant awards, industry memberships, or certifications in creative/technical areas in their application materials will receive special consideration.
