Engineering Technician

Job Summary

The Engineering Technician will support senior technicians and engineers in ergonomic, safety, quality, and process improvements on the production line. The role involves observing and interacting with operators, following engineering procedures and standards, and providing technical support to both internal and external customers. Tasks include participating in the fabrication and assembly of air conditioning units, air handlers, and related systems. Approximately 75% of the time is spent on the floor, with 25% in the office.

• Build relationships with the production team to improve safety, quality, and cycle time.
• Perform tooling analysis and data acquisition to confirm process improvements.
• Create design change requests to address build issues and enhance product quality.
• Test and record data operating air conditioning systems, conduct basic failure analysis, and follow test procedures.
• Assemble, disassemble, and fabricate custom parts, mechanical structures, and test stands in partnership with engineers.
• Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to all safety procedures.
• Operate heavy equipment or vehicles for testing or material handling as required.
• Select appropriate test instruments for product testing.
• Plan and schedule daily activities to meet priority and timeline objectives.
• Communicate effectively across functions and provide constructive feedback at all organizational levels.

• Technical Diploma and at least three years of experience in engineering or an equivalent field.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

• Associate’s degree and at least three years of experience in engineering or equivalent.
• EPA Section 608 certification (stationary refrigeration and air conditioning).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Knowledge of HVAC and mechanical terminology.
• Experience with rigging, crane operation, and forklift operation.
• Experience brazing and troubleshooting air conditioning systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with power tools and common machining equipment (lathe, mill, drill press, band saw, etc.).
• Drafting skills or experience with 2‑D/3‑D AutoCAD.
• Detail oriented and adaptable to fast-paced environments.

• Frequent standing, walking/running, reaching, driving, bending/kneeling, hearing, talking, visual observation, and manual dexterity; occasional climbing, typing, fine dexterity, and lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Work involves repetitive upper‑extremity motions and exposure to physical hazards.
• Equivalency: approximately four years of on‑the‑job experience equals one year of formal education.

$51,400.00 – $79,200.00
