HSE Supervisor

Your Contribution

As a Plant Safety Supervisor reporting to the Murfreesboro Plant Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating Health and Safety efforts, as well as the Environmental Management System of the plant/location. The position ensures a safe work environment for all employees while maintaining compliance with all ISO guidelines, and safety‑related legal requirements.

Core responsibilities include:

• Supervising a team of Health, Safety, and Environmental Representatives.
• Ensuring HSE policies, procedures, and programs comply with company, OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations.
• Managing environmental programs, maintaining logs of chemicals and SDS.
• Leading and coordinating environmental systems activities to meet ISO guidelines.
• Responding to and facilitating investigations for HSE incidents and near‑misses; identifying root causes and driving corrective actions.
• Managing safety and health training programs for employees in work‑site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
• Reviewing new machinery, equipment, and plant layout changes to ensure proactive safety.
• Monitoring occupational health and industrial hygiene activities, including air sampling, noise measurements, etc.
• Inspecting facilities for existing or potential accidents and health hazards; determining corrective or preventative measures and following up to ensure implementation.
• Organizing ergonomic assessments and job hazard analysis for all areas.
• Ensuring appropriate personal protective equipment is available for employees.
• Facilitating visitor/contractor expectations pertaining to plant safety.
• Managing internal audits and annual certification programs.
• Maintaining HSE files and records; compiling and submitting accident and other reports to regulatory agencies.

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health, Environmental Health/Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field from an accredited four‑year college or university.
• 7+ years of previous or related experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and decision‑making skills; ability to make difficult decisions and set the example for employees.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation delivery.
• Ability to manage short and/or long‑term projects to successful completion.
• Broad, basic understanding of federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certifications preferred.
