Mechanical Project Engineer
We are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer who will utilize their engineering expertise and experience to design, develop, and implement concepts aimed at improving performance metrics in our manufacturing areas. This role involves researching new manufacturing processes, specifying capital equipment, and ensuring successful integration into production.
Responsibilities
- Manage capital improvement projects by developing RFQs, acquiring proposals, creating timelines, and staying within budget.
- Design and implement modifications to production machines and tooling, including creating and revising technical drawings.
- Install and test new production machine designs and tooling, ensuring full functionality.
- Support die casting and injection molding operations, including troubleshooting tooling and processes.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems in manufacturing operations.
- Design and develop mechanical components using CAD tools.
- Perform engineering calculations to support design decisions.
- Provide hands-on engineering assistance, training, and instruction on machine setup, preventative maintenance, and operations.
- Perform dimensional inspections of prototypes and machine components, reporting results verbally or in writing.
- Investigate manufacturing processes and tooling to improve quality and efficiency.
- Travel as required to other company locations, vendors, customers, trade shows, and training sessions.
- Create and review Process/Design FMEA, control plans, and APQP documents.
- Exercise independent judgment and discretion in decision-making.
- Perform physical tasks such as sitting, standing, bending, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3–5+ years of engineering or project experience, preferably in automotive.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, calculations, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience using CAD systems (preferably AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Injection Molding and/or Die Casting.
- Familiarity with machine shop practices.
- Strong analytical skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with Process/Design FMEA's, control plans, and APQP.
- Basic understanding of machine control systems, including safety devices, PLCs, HMIs, and hydraulics.
- Minimum of five years' hands-on experience as an engineer in a manufacturing plant.
- Familiarity with TS & ISO Quality & Environmental Systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Vocational/Technical School experience related to machine shop practices.
- Automotive manufacturing environment experience.
Work Environment
The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with typical working hours from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. This position offers a long-term opportunity in a growing automotive supplier environment.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Murfreesboro, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
