$52,351 - $62,883; commensurate with experience
Serve as a Police Officer qualified to carry firearms; patrol the campus community, testify in court proceedings, maintain accurate records; operate and maintain law enforcement equipment; enforce university, state and local laws; investigate suspected criminal incidents and respond to emergency situations. Ascertain facts through personal contact / observation as well as analyze situations quickly and objectively and determine a proper course of action.
Successfully complete all ongoing and annual requirements to maintain P.O.S.T. Peace Officer certification in the State of Tennessee. Adequately perform daily assignments and duties as indicated by reviews / performance evaluation of the assigned Patrol Sergeant.
High School diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) required.
Required Related ExperiencePossess a minimum of two years’ certified law enforcement experience (must be in good standing with previous law enforcement employer(s). US citizen, Honorable discharge if military experience; must pass a psychological and physical examination administered by a licensed physician at the department’s expense.
Required Within The First Six (6) Months Of Employment- Completion of the 3-week transition training for POST certification (if required).
- Completion of the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification.
- Completion of the MTSU Field Training Program.
Tennessee POST Peace Officer Certification or equivalent certification from another state, with the ability to become certified in the state of Tennessee within the first 6 months of employment.
Valid Driver License
Desirable Related ExperienceBachelor's degree preferred.
