- This is a hybrid position.
Under direction, is responsible for professional scientific and epidemiological assessments of considerable difficulty; performs related work as required. An incumbent in this class conducts scientific research in communicable diseases, environmental epidemiology and toxicology. The incumbent also makes health and risk assessments and provides expertise to health department physicians, departmental personnel, and environmental regulatory personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee epidemiological and evaluation needs for the following programs:
Cardiovascular Health, Diabetes Prevention and Management, Project Diabetes, Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant, and Rape Prevention Education - Provide supervision and leadership to section evaluation team. Set clear expectations, identify areas of improvement, and promote professional development and other skills building activities that enhance and improve work performance
- Coordinate, review, and approve qualitative and quantitative data and evaluation products submitted to federal agencies and TDH leadership
- Utilize evaluation findings and recommendations, current needs assessments, and disease burden data to guide strategic planning, work plans, grant applications, contract development, evaluation and performance measurement plans, and improve section programs and outcomes
- Develop CDPHP related data products including evaluation and performance management plans, reporting systems (e.g., REDCap), evaluation reports, and data visualization products including infographics, interactive maps and dashboards, utilizing statistical analysis software including SAS, Tableau, ArcGIS and other similar tools
- Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data on program activities, performance measures, fidelity, successes, impact, and barriers
- Conduct or coordinate epidemiologic analyses and report findings to leadership or stakeholders. Compiles, codes, categorizes, calculates, tabulates, audits, and verifies data or coordinates these activities
- Ensure that all generated reports follow Data Release Guidelines
- Provide technical assistance and epidemiological expertise to stakeholders, program staff, and providers across the state
- Attend and participate in team meetings and conference calls as needed regarding program activities and evaluation
- Participate on internal and external work groups, councils, and committees to advise, share, learn, and collaborate with others related to chronic disease and health promotion evaluation and data
Education and Expertise differ for this executive service classification based on the needs of the department. This might include a Bachelor's degree in a health or science field, a Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Health Administration or Health Planning, experience with statewide leadership or directing all functions of a public health program as a whole.
