Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Position

Radiological Technologist.

Department

Radiology.

Purpose

Responsible for taking radiological exams and related duties.

Working Conditions

Reports to Radiology Manager and Physicians. Must demonstrate current competencies for the job position.

Job Responsibilities
  • Minimum one year of customer service experience in a health care setting; mammography experience preferred.
  • Graduate from an accredited X‑ray Technologists Program.
  • Prepares patients for radiology procedures.
  • Takes radiographs following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Maintains high quality and quantity standards.
  • Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
  • Complies with all policies regarding safety, infection control, and universal precautions.
  • Ensures equipment is in working order; reports malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Logs radiology procedures completed and processes related paperwork using computer equipment.
  • Maintains procedure room, stocks supplies, and performs light cleaning of the room.
  • Produces digital X‑rays and sends them via PACS System to the Radiologist for interpretation.
  • Applicants may be asked to cross‑train in other specialty areas.
  • Basic phone, computer, and copier skills required.
  • Maintains certifications and registrations (ARRT status, TN state license) in good standing and keeps continuing education credits current.
Requirements
  • American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) registration required.
  • TN State license required.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.
  • Basic phone, computer, and copier skills.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of x‑ray procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform x‑ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment, including common safety hazards.
Skills
  • Skill in positioning patients properly.
  • Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
Abilities
  • Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, and families.
Working Conditions and

Physical Requirements

Exposure to radiation, communicable diseases, and other conditions common to a radiology setting. Must lift 25 pounds and push or pull several hundred pounds. Environment can be very busy and stressful. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Work requires hand dexterity, stooping, bending to position patients, and retrieving supplies. Requires mobility to move patients and help them onto the table.

This position requires sitting and standing for long periods of time.
