Systems Administrator, IT Support
Overview

This role provides expert technical support and knowledge for installation, patching, configuration, and updates to enterprise applications, Windows PC and Server operating systems and hardware, non-Windows operating systems and hardware, virtualization, databases, and related technologies. Maintain documented disaster recovery procedures for Windows infrastructure. Collaborate with team members, software vendors, and other staff to design, implement, and continuously improve systems.
May require on-call availability and working during non-business hours and on weekends. Work closely with other System Analysts and technical resources to analyze and maintain applications and provide network administrative functions. Demonstrate initiative and independent judgment to resolve problems. Align with MLH Mission, Vision and Values and contribute to delivering compassionate care and service excellence.
- Customer Support:
Provide support to internal and external customers on site or remotely to analyze reported incidents or requests resulting in a completed request, successful repair, or correction. - Disaster Recovery:
Develop, maintain, and support backups and disaster recovery for the systems maintained by Enterprise Platforms. - Maintenance:
Maintain security, group policy, and configurations on existing hardware and software through established maintenance procedures. - Expertise Sharing:
Provide expertise for other Enterprise System Administrators as needed for projects and issue resolution. - Project Participation:
Participate in project planning, analysis, kickoff, and implementation. - Documentation:
Develop and maintain proper departmental documentation, ensuring integrity and accuracy of team documentation.
- Required — Associate's Degree in Computer Sciences
- Preferred — Associate's Degree in Management Information Systems
- Preferred — Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sciences
- Preferred — Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems
- Required — Server and storage hardware experience, 7-9 years
Skills and Abilities
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
- Problem solving: ability to research, analyze, and resolve problems to meet performance metrics
- Project involvement: experience working with team members, vendors, and operational staff on projects
- Device support: experience supporting a large number of devices in a complex environment
- Collaboration:
ability to work with technical resources to analyze, maintain, and administer enterprise systems - Systems security: ability to address risks, vulnerabilities, and misconfigurations
- Independent judgment: ability to take initiative and resolve problems independently
The role may require interpreting equipment status indicators, occasional use of small hand tools, and handling computer equipment components. Occasional exposure to stressful conditions due to tight project schedules and hardware/software issues. Regular periods of repetitive motion and other physical activities typical of office or administrative work. Physical requirements include light work with occasional lifting up to 40 lbs and up to 10 lbs frequently.
May require on-call availability and working during non-business hours and weekends with potential call-back. Possession of close visual acuity for data preparation and analysis. Typical work environment is general office or administrative setting.
