AESC is looking to add a Associate General Counsel to our team in Murfreesboro, TN.

As the Associate General Counsel at AESC, you will play a key role in shaping the legal structure and supporting the company’s growth and compliance. You will work closely with the General Counsel Americas and other legal leaders to develop legal strategies, manage large‑scale legal projects, and oversee the drafting, negotiation, and review of key contracts and agreements. This position requires a deep understanding of legal risk management, commercial law, and regulatory compliance while fostering scalable legal processes within a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
WhatYou Will Do Legal Strategy and Structure
Collaborate with the General Counsel and other legal leaders to develop the foundational structures for a robust legal function.
Contract Drafting and NegotiationServe as a primary legal advisor to review, draft, and negotiate key commercial agreements, including master services agreements, EPC contracts, vendor agreements, and other contractual documents.
Compliance and Risk ManagementProvide counsel on legal and regulatory compliance issues and work to ensure adherence to internal policies and external legal requirements.
Project Management and LeadershipLead and manage large‑scale legal projects on critical issues facing the organization.
Process ImprovementImplement scalable contracting processes to streamline the legal function and improve operational efficiency. Collaborate with internal teams across sales, compliance, finance, and operations to provide legal guidance on projects and daily operations.
Complete other duties as assigned.
What You Need Educational Background- J.D. from an ABA‑accredited law school is required.
- Member in good standing of a state bar, enabling independent legal practice.
- At least 5 years of legal experience in a law firm, in‑house legal department, or equivalent setting.
- Extensive experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements and contracts.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and drafting skills with great attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with sound problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, with ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Understanding of IATF
16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. - Understanding of ISO
14001 environmental standards.
- Prior experience managing junior legal professionals or teams in a legal setting.
- Experience working in the energy, manufacturing, or technology sectors, focus on commercial and regulatory issues.
- Experience in a high‑volume manufacturing environment, especially automotive or battery production.
- Demonstrated success in managing large‑scale legal projects and cross‑functional initiatives.
- Familiarity with legal process automation and implementation of scalable legal workflows.
- Experience in a startup or rapidly growing environment, demonstrating adaptability to change.
Occasional domestic and international travel required.
