Responsibilities
- Lead in the development of tool making processes. To develop the processes with the understanding to minimize time and ensure high quality.
- Work with the leaders of other departments to ensure the availability of all needed tools for production.
- Train all Tool Shop employees under the aspect of the safest and most economical processes. To develop a team environment.
- Plan and coordinate special projects needed in the Tool Shop.
- Schedules the daily production assignments
- Monitors the Tool Shop quality and continuously improves operations.
- Maintains and facilitates open communication in the department and between departments.
- Overtime scheduling
- Schedule and deliver training for Tool Shop employees.
- Assist in the interview of applicants for Tool Shop positions and make recommendations as needed.
- Complete individual training records for all employees.
- Monitor and train for safe operations of all equipment and machines.
- Monitor the quality of tools produced at all machines.
- Notify the operator of any unexpected quality formed.
- Advise the employee of the recommended course of action to be taken.
- Record any tools which are weld reworked or scrap.
- Prepare a monthly report to summarize the rework or scrap.
- Review set-up and routings to be sure the employee is following the correct procedure on producing the tools.
- Report any unsafe action or operation and take corrective action.
- Operate CNC machines as needed.
- Monitor the flow of SAP information slips, job tickets, and material take off sheets to ensure the information is reported properly.
- Develop setup and procedure records.
- Organize, coordinate and follow up on special projects..
- Recommend ratings of employee performance evaluations based on performance observations.
- Develop continuous improvement in the Tool Shop.
- Work as a team member.
- Monitor the use of all tools to ensure the proper care is being taken.
- Able to operate CNC Equipment and Machines
- Able to read Blueprints
- Able to communicate Effectively
- Able to understand production requirements and methods
- Technical Schooling or associate's degree in Machine Tool Technology preferred
