Job Summary
Assemblers within the Saber Frame Up are responsible for applying job knowledge and skills to work proficiently at every station on the assembly line. They build components for heavy‑duty vehicle assemblies, identify process discrepancies, follow system instructions, use special equipment, maintain safety standards, and support quality requirements.
ShiftMonday – Thursday, four 10‑hour days: 6:00am to 4:30pm.
Responsibilities- Follow the Truck Builder system to confirm results and ensure compliance with standard work instructions.
- Adhere to written instructions to reduce potential assembly issues and quality defects.
- Perform work cycles of up to 4 hours, maintaining sequence and confirming completion of each step before advancing the unit.
- Utilize special equipment such as torque tools, DC tools, brake bleeders, AC chargers, cab testers, jib/overhead cranes, and quality testing equipment.
- Assemble parts, wires, hoses, and hydraulics, using safe and proper tools and techniques; install accessories such as decals, mud flaps, cameras, and lights.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, complying with safety rules, procedures, and 6S standards.
- Assist in identifying and correcting back defects and drive preventive action implementation.
- Minimum 6 months of relevant experience or a high‑school diploma/equivalent.
- Previous experience with basic hand tools.
- Experience working in a manufacturing operations environment.
- Experience with Pierce Assembly or in the Pierce Frame Up department.
- Perform assigned tasks consistently and accurately.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Recognize and respond to abnormal operating conditions.
- Use/maintain personal protective equipment as required.
- Hear safety alarms and coworker alerts.
- Perform basic counting and reading of tape measures, safety manuals, work orders, and blueprints.
- Follow supervisor and coworker instructions.
- Maintain awareness of safety issues, hazards, and identify unsafe conditions.
- Maintain balance while walking/standing, including on slippery floors.
- Safely climb portable steps, ladders, and trucks.
- Lift and manipulate parts/equipment weighing up to 35 lbs.
- Stand for extended periods, bend, twist, and reach as needed.
- Use both hands for tools and assembly tasks.
- Assist coworkers with heavy lifting when needed.
- Safely operate and use heavy equipment.
- Direct hire, immediate start.
