The Shop Assistant / Machine Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Murfreesboro, TN. This role involves operating manufacturing machinery according to safety and quality standards, setting up and monitoring machines, and performing basic maintenance and cleaning tasks. The Shop Assistant / Machine Operator will assist with material handling, use a heat induction brazing machine, and media blaster to support production workflows on the shop floor.
Day-to-day activities include inspecting parts for quality, recording production data, and collaborating with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules. The role also includes operating machines to manufacture cutting tools, following shop procedures, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to operate and monitor manufacturing equipment, with skills in Machine Operation and working around different types of Machinery.
- Experience with Quality Control practices, including inspecting parts, checking measurements, and documenting results.
- Proficiency in using Hand Tools safely and effectively for setup, adjustment, and basic maintenance tasks.
- Strong Communication skills for working with supervisors, coworkers on production goals and issues.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort in a manufacturing or shop environment.
- Attention to detail, reliability, and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Willingness to learn, adapt to new processes, and participate in training on company-specific machinery and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior experience in machining, manufacturing, or shop work is beneficial but not always required.
