Stewards VISTA:
Fresh waters Illustrated UT Project 2 Y1
Fresh waters Illustrated (FI), in partnership with University of Tennessee Extension, educates communities across Tennessee about local ecosystems, watershed science, conservation careers, and environmental stewardship. FI leads K–12 engagement through its Water Teachers Initiative, while UT Extension connects with schools and youth through a statewide network of Extension agents and 4‑H educators. Together, we expand access to environmental education and career pathways.
The Ameri Corps VISTA member will serve with Fresh waters Illustrated and UT Extension to help expand the reach and impact of environmental education and conservation career programming across Tennessee. In this Ameri Corps Position, the member will develop outreach plans and events for underserved Appalachian communities, build partner contact database, and build frameworks for program evaluation. By building these tools and pathways, the member will help ensure that more Tennesseans—especially those in rural and under‑resourced communities—have the knowledge, inspiration, and opportunities they need to become the next generation of environmental stewards.
We seek organized, adaptable individuals with strong communication skills and an interest in education, environmental stewardship, and community engagement.
