• Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.
• Utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice and maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
• Identify nursing problems related to individual patient needs and plan individualized care using an interdisciplinary approach.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and coordinate care that supports the hospital’s mission and vision.
• When acting in a charge nurse role, manage day‑to‑day activities to ensure quality patient care in a therapeutic environment.
• Make staff assignments based on patient need, acuity, and staff skill.
• Serve as a role model and clinical resource for staff.
• Respond promptly to requests for information or follow‑up with physicians, staff, or patients.
• Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions and maintain accurate, detailed records.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient conditions.
• Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care appropriate to patient ages.
• Promote hospital customer service initiatives.
• Apply the nursing process to meet patient needs.
• Perform technical skills and procedures required for the role.

• RN licensure by the TN Board of Nursing or a Board of Nursing from a compact state.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Administration Provider Card within 6 months of hire for RNs with six months oncology experience or 12 months if no oncology experience.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or BMT Certified Nurse preferred.
