Part‑Time Emergency Veterinarian – a predictable‑hours role with a consistent home hospital assignment in Blountville, Tennessee. This position offers flexibility while keeping you clinically engaged.

Location:

Airport Pet Emergency Clinic, Blountville, Tennessee – serving the Tri‑Cities region of Northeast Tennessee and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups
  • Client communication and education
  • Performing diagnostic procedures and surgery
  • Maintaining accurate medical records
  • Pharmacy duties including prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols
  • Promoting teamwork and staff efficiency
  • Working with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations
  • Evaluating and monitoring hospital protocols from intake to discharge
  • Monitoring cases in the hospital and attending daily rounds when possible to uphold high standards
  • Participating in practice management updates and training at all levels
  • Performing other duties as assigned by Management

Qualifications (Required)

  • Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or university
  • Current State Veterinary License
  • DEA registration maintained
  • 1+ years of experience in emergency practice
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills
  • Excellent surgical and dental skills
  • Ability to work well in a team‑oriented environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, high‑quality veterinary care
  • Client communication skills – ability to elicit information, establish rapport, and offer explanations to pet owners
  • Display confidence and reassurance with pets experiencing severe stress, illness, or pain
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform moderate physically demanding work (e.g., climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching)

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Advanced clinical knowledge across examinations (cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological, etc.) and ability to prescribe appropriate treatment
  • Problem‑solving skills for high‑quality veterinary hospital management
  • Effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients and internal staff
  • Professionalism and ability to give/receive constructive criticism
  • Business acumen – understanding of veterinary hospital management and finances
  • Ethical decision‑making and commitment to continuing education

Pay Range

$55,000 — $70,000 USD
