We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Quality Control Manager to lead national quality initiatives within our Materials Division. Based out of Middle Tennessee, this role will oversee aggregate quality operations across all locations within our operating footprint. With a strong commitment to quality, safety, sustainability, and innovation, we serve a diverse range of commercial, residential, and infrastructure customers.

As the Quality Control Manager for our Materials Division, you will play a critical leadership role in ensuring our aggregate products consistently exceed industry standards and customer expectations. You will analyze performance data and collaborate cross-functionally with operations, production, sales, and technical services to drive continuous improvement.

This position requires deep technical expertise in aggregate testing processes, strong leadership capability, and the ability to effectively manage both people and quality systems across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage quality control operations for the Materials (Aggregates) Division across all operating locations.
  • Travel regularly throughout the state to oversee site-level quality programs and ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of quality control technicians.
  • Conduct and oversee routine and non-routine testing of aggregate materials using industry-standard methods.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of aggregate testing processes including:
  • Gradation analysis
  • Specific gravities
  • LA Abrasion testing
  • L  (Load Bearing Ratio) data
  • Fineness Modulus (FM) calculations
  • Additional state and DOT-required test procedures
  • Interpret test results and statistical data, comparing findings to established specifications and control limits.
  • Provide clear recommendations regarding product release, adjustments, and corrective actions.
  • Partner with operations and production teams to troubleshoot quality challenges and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Develop, implement, and standardize quality control procedures and best practices across all sites.
  • Maintain organized documentation of testing records, reports, certifications, and compliance data.
  • Serve as a technical resource to internal teams and customers regarding aggregate performance and specifications.
  • Stay current on state DOT requirements, industry standards, and emerging technologies impacting aggregate quality control.
Qualifications
  • Based in Middle Tennessee with the ability and willingness to travel throughout all states in which we operate.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building materials industries (aggregates, bulk materials), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Industry certifications such as ACI Level 1 & 2 Aggregate Testing, AAHSTO Base Aggregate testing, or ability to obtain within a specific time period.
  • Technical knowledge of aggregate quality testing processes and data interpretation, including gradations, specific gravities, LA Abrasion, ASR testing, L  data, FM calculations, and related procedures.
  • Proven experience managing people and quality-driven processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments while maintaining accountability and standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with quality management systems.
  • Relevant industry certifications preferred.
  • Willingness to complete pre-employment screenings.
