Description
Midwest Yogurt, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring a Sanitation Engineer based in Murfreesboro, TN. This Sanitation Engineer position will support Food Safety, Quality, Sanitation and Regulatory work at the facility. The role bridges engineering, quality assurance, and operations—supporting the validation of new equipment, optimizing chemical and utility consumption, and driving corrective actions based on system analytics.
Key Responsibilities- Provide FSQ support and direction in sanitation and environmental cleaning, including Clean-in-Place Systems and Environmental Monitoring.
- Assist with development and implementation of sanitation validation schedules and procedures, ensuring adherence to regulations.
- Audit critical sanitation parameters, ensuring compliance with validation standards.
- Analyze daily microbiological test results for semi-finished products, finished goods, and environmental monitors, initiating cross‑functional action plans upon deviation.
- Conduct sanitation inspections and audits, identify improvement areas and implement corrective actions.
- Use Quality Engineering principles to collect, analyze, and interpret data for adjusting cleaning processes, balancing cost savings with safety compliance.
- Support R&D, cost‑savings, reformulations, new product start‑ups and equipment installations by ensuring safe CIP integration.
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering for a safe working environment.
Education
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Majors in food science, chemical engineering, microbiology, or a related discipline preferred.
Experience
- 1+ years progressive engineering or technical experience in a food/beverage manufacturing facility; 3+ years highly preferred.
Certifications & Knowledge
- Understanding of automated Clean-in-Place systems, fluid dynamics, chemical titrations, and sanitary equipment design.
- Knowledge of microbiology, EMP, GMPs, and FSSC 22000/SQF food safety systems.
- PCQI or HACCP certification highly preferred.
- Strong data‑driven analytical skills, ability to interpret data, generate variance reports, and communicate updates.
