Oshkosh Vocational is newly expanding in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, with a facility located off Joe B Jackson Parkway to provide an alternate to Nashville traffic. The Quality Engineer will design quality standards and inspect materials, equipment, processes and products. The role performs data analysis to identify opportunities for continuous improvement of business and manufacturing processes, emphasizing waste elimination. Structured methodologies are used to identify root causes of non‑conformances and execute corrective action.
Responsibilities- Conduct and/or oversee quality control testing and defect prevention
- Respond promptly to quality process non‑conformance issues
- Lead analysis and implementation of effective solutions
- Construct and maintain quality data tracking, analysis, reporting and root‑cause investigation
- Develop quality standard operating procedures
- Validate product conformance to design requirements using advanced measurement technologies (3‑D scanning, CMM, etc.)
- Communicate effectively with Employee Teams, Quality, Engineering, Global Procurement & Supply Chain (GPSC), Contracts, Sales and Manufacturing to resolve quality issues and improve processes
- Facilitate quality‑led forums to provide business impact, risk assessment and data‑based guidance
- Perform process capability studies internally and externally
- Design and improve process inputs to achieve desired outcomes and reduce variability
- Establish control plans to prevent process backsliding
- Analyze process constraints and develop standards to overcome them
- Benchmark industry practices for process validation assessments
- Implement corrective and preventative actions using structured planning methods
- Support supplier quality processes and interface with GPSC
- Partner to set purchase specifications, PPAP, manage receiving inspections and define quality contractual requirements
- Contribute to maintenance of ISO/IATF certifications and compliance
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Quality or related field from an accredited institution
- Three (3) or more years of experience
- Advanced training/experience in statistical techniques and process improvement methods
- Proficiency interpreting technical drawings including views, title blocks, dimensioning and GD&T symbols
- Experience applying structured problem‑solving techniques using computer applications
- Six Sigma certification and CQE, #LI-KM1
