Summary/Basic FunctionThe Department of Physics and Astronomy at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, postdoctoral research fellow position (#L06010) as part of the Computational Quantum Materials group. This is a one-year temporary appointment with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years. Renewal is contingent on performance, continued interest, and funding availability. The start date is as early as July 1, 2026.
Under the supervision of Dr. Hanna Terletska, the successful candidate will actively collaborate with Dr. Thomas Maier and Dr. Tom Berlijn at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, including research visits to the laboratory, as part of a DOE RENEW TN-QuMat‑funded project.
The highly qualified candidate will have expertise in theoretical and computational many‑body physics, particularly in modeling and simulating quantum materials with strong correlations, disorder, and electron‑phonon interactions. The ideal candidate will have experience in many‑body quantum physics, ab‑initio methods, Monte Carlo calculations, and numerical method development.
Required EducationA terminal degree in physics, chemistry, material science, quantum information systems, or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
Other DesirablesApplicants with expertise in many‑body simulations (DMFT, DCA, DCA++, CPA, DMRG), ab‑initio modeling, and machine learning will receive special consideration. Also, those with experience with machine learning techniques will receive special consideration.
