Job Description
The Area Business Specialist (ABS) is responsible for achieving commercial objectives in the assigned territory in alignment with Xeris’ corporate goals. Reporting to the Regional Business Director (RBD), the ABS will develop and execute plans to exceed growth targets and business objectives on a quarterly and annual basis.
Essential Responsibilities- Achieve territory product sales and activity goals, meeting company performance metrics.
- Leverage internal data, analytics and cross‑functional resources to identify high‑potential HCPs and patient opportunities and develop an effective territory business plan.
- Build rapport and credibility with HCPs and all practice staff to create urgency around identification, diagnosis and treatment of underserved rare‑disease patients.
- Apply an account‑based selling approach, engaging physicians, nurses, medical assistants, office staff, referral coordinators and prior authorization personnel to identify patients, address barriers and drive patient pull‑through from diagnosis to treatment initiation.
- Utilize company resources—field analytics, account data, marketing campaigns, speaker programs, peer‑to‑peer education, disease‑state materials, patient‑finding resources and cross‑functional support—to develop account strategies and improve customer engagement and patient pull‑through.
- Build strong cross‑functional partnerships with PAMs and internal stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and efficient approach to driving customer engagement and facilitating patient treatment initiation.
- Collaborate with Regional Business Directors and peers to share best practices and implement strategic initiatives, contributing market intelligence and customer insights to support organizational growth.
- Represent the organization professionally and ethically, maintaining compliance with all company policies, industry regulations and healthcare laws, and continuously seeking opportunities for personal and professional development.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 5years of successful life‑sciences sales experience; 2+years of rare‑disease product promotion preferred.
- Proven record of sustained high sales performance and achievement.
- Strong knowledge of sales processes and rare‑disease markets, patient‑journey processes preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
- Valid U.S. state‑issued driver’s license.
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, collaboration skills and high accountability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, problem‑solving, decision‑making, organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Attention to detail, self‑starter mindset, prioritization and execution ability in a dynamic environment.
- Field‑based position requiring daily travel in assigned geography.
- Periodic evening, weekend and overnight travel by air and vehicle.
- Travel may be semi‑weekly or more frequent for larger geographies.
- Required to meet HCP appointments and patient touchpoints on a daily basis.
Base salary range $110,000 to $190,000. Field‑sales employees eligible for quarterly commissions. Non‑sales employees eligible for an annual bonus. Eligible for equity or long‑term incentive awards where applicable. Comprehensive benefits package includes paid time off, health, vision, dental, 401(k) and other medical and wellness benefits.
