Part-time (28 hours per week)
- Ensure all rooms are in proper order before residents arrive; check fire equipment to confirm it is in working order.
- Check clients into the lodge/shelter; prepare and monitor client intake cards; determine if the client has been prepaid by a sponsor or uses credit; prepare the resident roster and maintain resident property records.
- Prepare and distribute meal tickets and laundry tokens; distribute towels, linens, and personal hygiene items; secure and distribute client medications as required.
- Obtain client signatures on forms and lodge/shelter rules and regulations.
- Monitor the activities of lodge/shelter residents to ensure safety and compliance with house rules; check the security of all windows and doors; monitor cameras; make periodic rounds of the entire facility; record any unique situations occurring during the shift.
- Respond to emergencies calmly and initiate the appropriate corrective actions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Open and close the lodge/shelter doors at designated hours of operation.
- Complete required paperwork representing client intake for the day; input data into the computer to maintain records and generate client lists.
- Sort client intake cards in numerical order and file remaining intake cards of clients who did not check into the lodge/shelter for the evening.
- Assign housekeeping and other tasks to residents; ensure that clients perform assigned duties in the proper manner and comply with house rules.
- Answer the telephone and respond to questions regarding lodge/shelter operations.
- Wake lodge/shelter clients at the designated time and instruct them to collect their sheets; ensure that all residents are out of the lodge/shelter by the designated time.
- Answer the crisis hotline and provide crisis intervention through telephone interviews and client counseling where applicable.
- Meet attendance requirements.
- Read, write, and communicate in English.
- Respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating the correct corrective action.
- Perform a combination of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis; distance of travel is usually within the same building.
- Perform limited physical effort involving walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.), 5–10% of work time.
- Work is performed in a lodge/shelter facility with minimal physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
